Kachemak Bay Water TaxiLicensed Water taxi service is available through Sailwood Adventures. We can help with all the logistics involved in traveling around Kachemak Bay and lower Cook Inlet. Our 24 foot aluminum boat is well suited to moving gear and kayaks throughout the bay. We can also be hired for freight hauling. Experienced sea kayakers can use our knowledge of the bay to put together a several day paddle trip, with different drop off and pick up points. Under certain circumstances we will have to wait for favorable tides and weather for pick up and delivery, but we can usually anticipate this in the planning stages of your trip. Transit from our lodge "La Caleta" to trailheads and other destinations are available for an added charge. Chilly Willy, Gull Rock Water Taxi Loop On your trip to or from La Caleta Wilderness Lodge, why not add a boat tour of Gull Rock? This is a world class seabird rookery—the summer breeding ground for thousands of cormorants, seagulls, kittiwakes, common murres and horned puffins.
It's fascinating to see all these birds together with their nesting babies. Hear the wild, raucous alarms when a raiding bald eagle swoops by. Gull Rock is a Kachemak Bay "must see." Add $50 to your water taxi fare.
Water taxi charges: Round trip from Homer boat harbor to Sadie Cove & La Caleta as a overnight
guest: $90.00 per person. |
